Crest Nicholson, developers have an interest in Church
Farm and have already submitted a design brief to build between 528 and 660 new houses on part
(18.3 hectares) of our Greenbelt land. This represents over 1/3 of the total area, with further
options over a significant proportion of the rest of it!
These plans are pretty, but fanciful
and suggest a low density, eco-friendly "village community" with acres of open space. The
reality would be very different, particularly as upto 40% of this development would have to be affordable housing and
would ,therefore, inevitably lead to a much more cramped, modern estate sprawl.
To make it
look more appealing they have also ,cunningly, sub-divided this development into 3 "smaller parcels" of proposed
residential .They are suggesting development up to the gas pipeline (demarked by white
and orange topped posts) creating a new "northern urban edge" leaving
a minuscule piece of Greenbelt between it and the A449 link road.
This is a major
threat - DON'T BE MISLED
This would completely destroy our
already narrow, fragile, GreenBelt for ever!
(Remember this is NOT a done
deal,No decisions have been made yet. Although the area has been surveyed , as we witnessed earlier in the year, we have
been consulted and hopefully, via the questionaire ,you have made your feeling known on this and other areas under consideration within
Worcester City)
