Hopefully
you filled in the questionaire and the notes were of help. The main reasons we believe its a bad idea to build on
Claines Green Belt are:
1. The Greenbelt prevents the coalescence (merging)
of Worcester , Fernhill Heath and Droitwich. .
When we look at the Greenbelt between Worcester and Fernhill Heath ,our part of it is very narrow and vunerable. This
situation can only get worse when Fernhill Heath expands( as it is likely to do ).Remember "Gwillam,s Farm Shop"
is already earmarked for possible development which adds further pressure to our Greenbelt. Any erosion of our Green Belt no matter how small would set a precedent for additional development, and would
be more difficult to defend.
2. The proposed sites are to be "sustainable" ; This
is where Jobs ,Shops,Health,Recreation and Education are all availible within the local community. Ther are no provisions
at all in the Church Farm development for anything other than commuters, overloading, our already choked roads leading to
the M5
3. Protecting the Character and Setting of the Claines Conservation Area and the adjacent
historic site of Church Farm. This is a unique conservation area having the listed " Mug House" and Church
in close proximity. Close by is the site of the original moated manor house.
4. Natural England ( a government
body) are charged with " protecting the best and most versitile agricultural land" in the country via the Agricutural
Land Classification scheme. They have defined Church Farm and all of the Green Belt Land identified as having development
potential, as Grade 2. This means that the land is fertile and versatile and should be protected, wherever possible,as
it is a scarce commodity. To show how scarce ,we here in the Claines Green Belt have the only grade 2 land ,within the city boundaries the rest of it is in the poorer grade 3 catagory.
5.Access
to the Countryside For views, recreation and biodiversity. Our Greenbelt are "the Lungs of
the City" and should be kept that way ! . Please remember:
This is your Green Belt
